Before you start
Have these ready.
- Chrome or Edge on a desktop computer.
- An Interpreter account with available minutes.
- The browser tab or desktop app that contains the call audio, plus microphone permission for Mic or Both.
Start a session
Follow these steps.

Sign in
Open the Interpreter web app and sign in to your account.

Set the session
Choose Transcribe or Translate, select the languages, then choose System, Mic, or Both.

Select Start
Select Start when the call is ready. System opens the browser sharing window, Mic asks for microphone access, and Both asks for both.

Approve the source
For System or Both, choose the tab, window, or screen that contains the call and enable audio sharing. For Mic or Both, allow microphone access.
Tip: For Both, choose the shared source first, then approve the microphone prompt.

Confirm and stop
Wait for speech to appear in the transcript. Select Stop in Interpreter when the call ends.
Session input
Choose System, Mic, or Both.
Choose the source that matches the call and whether your microphone should be included.
System
Uses audio from a shared browser tab, window, screen, or desktop call app.
Mic
Uses the microphone selected by your browser without opening the sharing window.
Both
Combines shared system audio and your microphone in one session.
Troubleshooting
Fix common start problems.
No words appear
Stop the session and share the source again. Confirm that audio sharing is enabled in the browser window.
The audio option is missing
Use the current desktop version of Chrome or Edge. Other browsers may not expose system audio.
Microphone access is blocked
Allow microphone access for Interpreter in your browser settings, then select Start again.
The wrong language appears
Stop the session, check both selected languages, and start again.
The call source closes
Open the call again, return to Interpreter, and start a new session with the new source.

Do I need to install anything?
No. The web app runs in Chrome or Edge on desktop.
Can I use the web app on a phone?
The web capture flow is built for desktop Chrome and Edge. Use the Android app for supported Android calls.
When do minutes start?
Minutes start when the transcription session begins. Stop the session when the call ends.
Does Interpreter save my audio?
No. Interpreter never saves your audio. It is discarded after processing.
